I am participating in the Summer of Yarn Love Swap hosted by Amy.
This is my 1st swap!
As instructed, below are my answers to the questionairre.
- Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been at your craft?
A. I knit. I have been knitting since my middle niece was born, 8.5 years ago. - Do you spin? What type of spinning?
A. I recently started to spin. I currently use a Turkish drop spindle. - What are your favorite yarns/fibers? What are your least favorite yarns/fibers?
A. My favorite fiber is wool - of any kind and mixed with anything. My least favorite yarns are novelty yarns. I am practical to a fault, I suppose. I might use novelty yarns when knitting for somebody else, but I would never use them for myself or in my home. - What are your favorite colors? What are your least favorite colors?
A. My favorite colors are blue and green. My least favorite color is pink. - Are there any yarns/brands that you are dying to work with but never have?
A. I am dying to work with Malabrigo. I have heard so many wonderful things about it, but I become overwhelmed by their selection of colorways. Is it bad to want them all? - What is/are your favorite types of projects to knit/crochet?
A. My favorite types of projects to knit are things for the home: pillows, afghans, tree skirts, etc. - What are you currently working on? Anything you plan to work on this summer?
A. My current project is a Christmas tree skirt. Over the summer, I plan to finish my Happy Marriage (Double Happiness) lace pillow. - What is your favorite FO? (Post a pic if you would like.)
A. My favorite FO would have to be the Ode to Quilting afghan I designed and knitted. - What is your oldest UFO?
A. Assuming we can ignore the frogs in my closet, the oldest UFO honors go to the Christmas tree skirt I am currently trying to finish before Christmas of this year … considering I failed to finish it by Christmas 2007. I started it in October 2007. - Are there any techniques that you want to learn?
A. I would like to knit some of the mosaics that Barbara Walker featured in her new book. - Are you on Ravelry? What’s your ID?
A. Yes. My name is KnittedGems. - Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
A. I apologize in advance if this offends you, but I hate knitting socks. More accurately, I hate knitting on double pointed needles. I can. I just find knitting to be more enjoyable if I can knit with straight needles or circular needles. I am a firm believer that life is too short to knit things you don’t enjoy knitting.
A2. I’m not sure how to answer the 2nd question. I wear a US 6.5 shoe. Is that good enough? Are more specific measurements generally needed? - Do you collect anything?
A. Ugly angels. - Do you have a yarn winder and/or swift?
A. Yes and yes. I purchased the swift for myself several years ago. My wonderful MIL was kind enough to donate her ball winder to me last year. - Do you love sweets? What are your favorites?
A. I LOVE dark, bitter chocolate. A close second would be the French Truffles from Trader Joes. - What are your favorite scents?
A. Many scents can give me a headache. I try to avoid them. - Where do you keep your needles/hooks?
A. I keep my straight needles in 2 fabric needle cases. I keep my circular needles in a large tote - terribly unorganized, but rarely used. I also own a circular, interchangeable kit. - Do you have a wishlist (Amazon, Etsy, etc?)
A. No, I can’t say that I do. Although, I do have favorite items in my Etsy store, they are currently featuring wedding items knitted by the Etsy Knitters Team of which I am a member/moderator. I am already happily married. God willing, I will never marry again. - Having a birthday this summer?
A. Yes. My birthday is August 11th. I am a Leo and a Fire Dragon. - Are you allergic to anything??? Please let your pal know!
A. Poison ivy!
